TimeSprite Settings

To change TimeSprite settings, select Edit->Settings from the menu.

Retain records for:

Records are kept for 9999 days by default. You can change this to whatever period suits you. Data older than this is removed from the database. The default period is large so that you don't accidentally lose data, but you may want to reduce this so the database doesn't grow too large.

Stop recording the active window after:

When TimeSprite is recording the active window, it only records data if the computer is in use (based on the last keyboard or mouse input). This setting controls how many minutes before TimeSprite decides you are no longer using the computer.

The setting is a compromise between recording too much time versus recording too little. A high value means that more time will be recorded after you have stopped using the computer. A low value means that some activities where you don't use the keyboard or mouse (eg. reading a long page of text or watching a presentation) would not be recorded.

Group entries by:

This setting controls the level of grouping that TimeSprite performs. By default it tries to do 2 levels of grouping - for example web browsing can often be grouped by website from the page title. With the single level of grouping, all web browsing would appear under "Internet Exporer" or similar.

Show minutes as:

This allows you to choose whether to display the number of minutes or report tenths of an hour (6 minute blocks) in the various TimeSprite reports.

If you select Tenths of an hour, 30 minutes would be displayed as 0.5 hours. Times less than 3 minutes will be reported as 0.0 hours.

Show reminder when monitor is paused for:

The monitor can pop up a notification message after it has been paused for a length of time. This is a reminder that data is not being recorded. For example, you might pause the monitor before you go home, but leave the computer running. You will then receive a reminder when you use the computer again the next morning. Set this to 0 to disable it.

Repeat reminder every:

TimeSprite can repeat the paused reminder periodically. Set this to 0 to disable it.
